Puglia mum & daughter portraits: Agriturismo photoshoot at Masseria Potenti
The peninsula which makes up the heel of Italy’s boot, is a region called Puglia. You might of heard of it through friends vacation stories, or seen photos of the sparkling coast and whitewash villages on Instagram- because it’s really having a moment!
And I’m not complaining about it! The beaches are being cleaned up, the once forgotten towns are alive again, and employment is on the rise for the tourism sector.
It seems every week I see a “new opening” of a once abandoned masseria (fortified farm) transformed into a luxury agriturismo, all of which are stunning. Personally I believe you can’t go past one of the original farm stays- Masseria Potenti.
Established over twenty years ago, they have spent the years perfecting your experience in their authentic masseria. They host many weddings and events, but you can book a suite or villa as an oasis for a few days (or weeks) in Salento- the most southern part of Puglia.
You’ll have the option to partake in a cooking class, taste their wine, horse ride on the beach or just sit by the pool and relax.
These two lovely ladies spent a week together doing all of the above. Nell was looking for a place to escape everyday life, to process a recent event and find a way forward, and who better to accompany her through this journey than her mum. Together they oohed and ahhed at the landscape surrounding them. They over-indulged in the food placed in front of them. They talked, they laughed and they embraced the special bond they have as mother and daughter.
Such a special bonding experience needs to be held closely, and what better way to relive these moments than through stunning photographs displayed throughout their homes.
On their last morning at Masseria Potenti, we spent some time capturing their relationship against the stunning masseria backdrop- a perfect keepsake from their trip. Keen for some new profile pictures, I took Nell aside to focus on her for a few moments too, and remind her just how kick-arse she is! Here are some of their favourites from our morning together.
Like most mums around Annabel’s age, she told me that she hates having her photo taken. Armed with this knowledge, it became my mission to show her just how wonderful she is- and look how she shined!
If you’re coming to Puglia for vacation, either with your spouse and/or family- I’d love to chat about capturing moments like these for you too!
