Frequently Asked Questions

  • It’s about capturing your life in this moment, to remember forever. I’ll help you do that with frames on your walls and albums as keepsakes!

Beyond that, it’s about community and reality.

Most people picture a certain stereotype when they think “expat”, so the book is about showing that each of our stories are unique!

So if you’re up for sharing your story, no matter where you’ve come from, what you’re doing here or which region you’re in- you’re welcome!

Couples, singles, families, pets and grandparents are all invited as are home-owners and renters.

  • We’ll meet at your home and then head to your “local”, whatever that may be. The park, the beach, the bar or a walk through the village!

If for any reason you don’t want your home photographed, we will do all of the shoot at your favourite local places, otherwise- we’ll probably include a bit of both!

  • A Classico Portraits ‘Calling Italy Home’ portrait experience is available on weekdays and weekends at various times from now until the end of 2023.

The photoshoot can be anywhere in Italy, for everyone under your roof, without time limits!

After your photoshoot we’ll schedule a personal ordering appointment to review your gallery and order your favourite images. You’ll even have a €200 credit that can be used on any of our products or collections.

Your story will also feature as a double page spread in the Calling Italy Home book with at least two stand out photographs from your session, and a little write up with your story.

    Total value of €400

  • €200 (value €700, as described above)

Full transparency: participation fees will cover the administrative and design costs to run this project, and some of the travel expenses. We want you to think of it like a kickstarter campaign, with lots of beautiful benefits and bonuses (like that €500 credit to put toward artwork)!

  • Photos taken during the session are not included.

At your ordering appointment (scheduled immediately after the photoshoot) you will see the whole collection of photos from your session. I’ll guide you through narrowing your favourites to purchase prints, artwork, albums and digital files if you wish to.

There is absolutely no obligation to do so however we highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity for your very own heirloom artwork- plus you have your print credit to get you started!

  • Oh, this is totally up to you! You could find yourself spending literally 5 figures, or you might not spend anything. We’ll chat about the options on your Zoom call.

  • Fill out the application form on this page, and if you are successful, we will be in touch to book your photoshoot. Your acceptance will be determined by a number of factors including your story, with our mission being to feature diversity across all areas.

“We had our very first family photoshoot done with Kirstie and she made it really fun and natural! Posing can feel a little awkward (or hard with a 6 months old) but she really put us at ease and she just worked her magic as we talked and laughed through the whole photoshoot.”

What is
Calling Italy Home?

Calling Italy Home is all about celebrating our time living here in Italy- whether temporarily for work, or permanently.

Each participant/family will be photographed in their home or surrounding area to create stunning portraits of you and your loved ones (hello updated wall art!).

One of your photos will also feature in our upcoming coffee table book, Calling Italy Home, alongside your story. We’ll share what brought you here and how you’ve adapted to living here in Italy.

We are looking for diversity in stories such as your background, what brought you to Italy, if you’re on your own or with family and so on! As such, participation is on an application basis.

Participants are encouraged to use this opportunity to update their portraits and may purchase their favourite images for their walls. As a bonus for participating, you’ll even receive a bonus print credit to help make that happen.

We’ll be travelling throughout Italy for the project so no matter which region you’re in, if this project excites you, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Photographer

Hi there, I’m Kirstie- An Australian photographer living in Italy.

I moved to here with my husband and our two dogs in August 2020. We started cleaning up his family Masseria in Puglia and attempted to begin renovations but we hit so many brick walls and some difficult personal problems that eventually we ran away, heading north! We stopped in Tuscany for a short stint and then settled in Piemonte when Marco received a job offer there!

After a couple of years in the North, we finally decided to chase our dream of being in Central Italy.. and so we’ve moved to Umbria!

Now that we’ve settled, I’m excited to meet other expats and share your story because if you’re anything like me, the reality is quite different to what you envisioned life would look like here.
