Umbria photographer: Kid-Friendly Cooking Class themed photoshoot
Welcome to a behind-the-scenes look at this culinary adventure in Umbria, the heart of Italy.
Hosted by Slow Cooking School just near the Tuscan border, these special cooking classes are designed for tourists seeking an authentic taste of Italy.
Amidst the Umbrian charm, these two best friends, with the help of Stella’s mum, chopped, sautéed and danced their way to culinary excellence under the expert guidance of Slow Cooking School who know exactly how to get all ages involved and having fun.
Prepare to indulge your senses and enjoy the highlights of this delightful Italian experience, where every photo tells a story of a vacation well spent.
But first, where is Umbria and should I visit?
Before seeing more of this cooking class, you might be wondering why you should leave Tuscany, or skip it altogether, for this lesser-known region. Nestled right next to Tuscany, Umbria is often called the "green heart of Italy," offering rolling hills, medieval towns, and a tranquility that’s hard to find in more tourist-heavy spots. It’s a haven for those seeking a more authentic, unspoiled slice of Italian life.
Umbria’s charm lies in its balance of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Wander through the ancient streets of Perugia, marvel at the frescoes in Assisi, or simply enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the picturesque hill towns like Paciano, home to Slow Cooking School.
Choosing Umbria over Tuscany doesn’t mean sacrificing the quintessential Italian experience; rather, it’s a chance to dive deeper into the country's soul. With fewer crowds and equally stunning landscapes, Umbria offers a peaceful retreat that’s perfect for immersing yourself in the art of slow living—and slow cooking. The food here in Umbria is as remarkable as the scenery, with hearty dishes that reflect the region’s agricultural roots- which makes a cooking class a must!
So, if you’re up for an adventure that’s a bit off the beaten path, consider giving Umbria a spot on your itinerary. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
Now, let’s have a look at this cooking class experience!
A kid-centred afternoon
Most of my photoshoots are about capturing parents and grandparents with their kids on vacation in Italy, but for this photo shoot, I was photographing two young girls, best friends! Of course we had to include mum too, and some solo portraits of her daughter Stella!
See the entire experience and photo shoot in the slideshow below!
Vacations gift us the rare space to spend quality time together.
Hold onto these moments through quality photographs on your walls.
Cooking classes are one of my favourite activities to photograph for families with children 5 years+. They enabled the kids (and parents) to forget that I’m there, documenting real moments that happened during this special vacation. And while the meal is cooking, there’s time to capture some more traditional portraits of you all too- without taking time out from your vacation.
If you’re coming to Italy soon, I’d love to customise a photoshoot for you too.
P.S. I do not receive any commission for this blog post I just wanted to share a great experience with you all!
